Calendar—Angelfood, the distributor of low-cost grocery boxes and convenience meals is now affiliated with True Vine Missionary Baptist Church in Englewood (773.488.0900)! For those who ordered by Monday the 15th of February, distribution will be on Saturday the 27th between the hours of 11:30 am and 1:30 pm. The menu for March will be available at that time.
Another location in Englewood is Bethsaida Missionary Baptist Church at 5660 S. Sangamon St. In West Englewood, Love Unlimited Christian Ministries Center at 1844 W. 63rd St. is a distribution center. Check at those locations for their particulars.
We are not talking about "food pantry" here, but HIGH-QUALITY foods brought straight from the processors to individuals and families on a BUDGET. The food is affordable because of sophisticated quantity buying and a management team that regards its operation as a ministry. Calendar—February 17th: Expressionists Express Excellence! Contributors to the four volumes of "Expressions From Englewood" will gather together to read their personal essays, poetry and fiction. This evening promises to be as varied and exciting as the Expressionists' expressions.
February 18: Poetry from Now for Now: Published, critically-acclaimed poets Quraysh Ali Lansana, ("They Shall Run: Harriet Tubman Poems" and "Southside Rain,") and Gwendolyn Mitchell, ("House of Women,") will read and discuss their works in a presentation that promises to be dramatic and inspiring.

Calendar—Englewood owes its name to the legendary hamlet in Nottingham Forest that was the home to Robin Hood and his merry men! In 1865 the area's name "Junction Grove" was replaced by Englewood, which translates roughly from Old English as "Oaken Woods," a clear reference to the stands of oaks which were found here at the time.

The newsletter aims to offer interesting and useful information about the work Teamwork Englewood is doing in the community and provide progress on the “Quality of Life” Plan. About us—Teamwork Englewood was formed as a vehicle for comprehensive community development in 2003 through the joint efforts of St. Bernard Hospital, Greater Englewood Parish United Methodist Church and Pullman Bank (now Park Bank). Its first task was to organize the community planning process that is a requirement of LISC/Chicago’s New Communities Program (NCP).
