"On Your Sunday Browse" is Greater Englewood's weekly series of postings regarding standing programs, offerings and items such as scholarships, summer programs and the like which may have a distant deadline. While not immediately pending events, they are "eventful" and deserve to be featured somewhere on our home page where our visitors can easily come upon them.
We could be talking about a new home day care in the neighborhood; a coffeehouse for that creative high school student of yours; a scholarship program that has an end date a month or so away; public, home or personal safety tips from CAPS and the like.
Items found here tend to be removed "the week of" and posted "on the day of."
If you or your organization has an on-going program that you would like to post here, call 773.602.4507 and ask for Rashan. The same goes for events scheduled some ways off. If your church, for instance, expects to do a musicale, dinner, etc., you should post it here. As the "week of" arrives, your posting will then be placed on "the day of."

This is being written on the 22nd, and I am hopeful all will try to attend the GEUA meeting on Monday (July 26th) at Kennedy King College , 740 West Halsted in room 211 at 5:30 pm. Your voice is important in developing urban agriculture in Englewood !
COMMUNITY GARDENS OF ENGLEWOOD TOUR:
The Garden Tour on Saturday the 17th was a roaring success! We had a great turnout, and everyone learned so much more about what is going on in Englewood in new and old gardens, homes and vacant lots, with flowers and food – all of it growing beautifully all over! And people networked to make sure they would continue to work together. We even had two visitors on bicycles join us in our car caravan!
Thanks to State Rep Esther Golar for joining us and providing tasty sandwiches for the potluck, to Jenice Sanders for overseeing the lunch and to Dip Ross of the Rowan Trees Farm and Market at 501 W. Englewood Ave. for supplying wonderful nachos and cold drinks halfway through the tour! And more thanks to everyone for making Saturday fun and interesting!
Please go to this link http://www.seedingchicago.com/ to see what Susan Richardson, who joined the tour and writes for Seeding Chicago – Urban agriculture news and views, recorded – great photos and an excellent description of the tour.
We also had Curtis Lawrence from Columbia College and a past resident of Englewood come along. Curtis is planning to write about the gardens of Englewood , too!

The Facilities Board assembles quarterly to exchange information on treatment opportunities and to coordinate available treatment services in the area.
Not every agency can offer sickle-cell screening and treatment, for instance, but some do, and the other providers should know who they are!
Coffee and other beverages are provided plus SUBSTANTIAL and healthy snacks. We begin at 10:00.
For information, call (312) 745-0706 and ask for Loys.
EC3 is a 501 (c) (3) ENTITY formed for the purpose of promoting/supporting the arts and cultural affairs in Greater Englewood.
EC3 is also a PLACE, in the Hamilton Park Cultural Center, where everyone gathers on the second Wednesday of every month to discuss and introduce their projects for promoting the arts. The "arts" are broadly defined, so as to include musical, lyrical, poetic, graphic, sculptural and plastic productions of all kind.
Whether you are inclined, for instance, to reconstruct the internal workings of a slave ship in your basement; publish a journal dedicated to local verse and poetry; stage Kwanzaa presentations; tutor/mentor at-risk youth; display a full scale replica of an elephant made out of scrap truck tires; promote a rap group dedicated to peace and harmony in the hood; develop your knitting circle; raise organic vegetables or make goat cheeses and preserves at home for sale at the corner, EC3 is the GROUP for you!
For more information or to make a presentation for your group or idea, call 312.362.6524 and ask for Kabila.
Just tell him: "The Precinct Captain sent me."
