The Smart Communities Program is a part of the City of Chicago's Digital Excellence Initiative. The program is funded primarily by the federal broadband and technology opportunities program, administered by LISC/Chicago and managed by Teamwork Englewood.
Hoops In The Hood
Hoops in the Hood, is a program of LISC/Chicago's Neighborhood Sports Chicago. It's a summer-long basketball program where athletes, parents and community members take back the streets of their neighborhood, by engaging in a safe and fun sport.
Hoops in The Hood helps to unite several communities in Chicago through the sport of basketball.
Hoops in The Hood exist in Englewood, Auburn Gresham, Back of the Yards, East Garfield Park, Humboldt Park, Little Village, West Haven, North Lawndale, Pilsen and the Near North Side.
At the end of the Summer, the teams compete in a final Hoops In The Hood Cross City tournament.
Teamwork Englewood is providing scholarships for young people ages 14–20 that join Sea Scouts. Sea Scouts, a Co-ed, year round program, provides certified sailing lessons, boating, camping, ski/snowboarding and other fun experiences to teach water safety and build confidence and leadership skills.
